A report came in about a pangolin which had been hunted in Coutada 12 and was up for sale in the village of Inhaminga, Cheringoma. The pangolin had been in the possession of traffickers for three days, and its condition was unknown, putting it at risk of perishing due to neglect.
On May 2nd, in collaboration with ANAC and SERNIC, two traffickers were apprehended in the vicinity of Nsassa-pendama, just 12 kilometers from the village of Inhaminga, with the pangolin in their custody.
The live pangolin was promptly handed over to caretakers, with plans for it to undergo the necessary care and treatment to ensure its well-being and eventual release back into Coutada 11. This rescue effort represents a crucial step in protecting the pangolin, an endangered species threatened by illegal wildlife trade.
