Pangolin Rescued in Wildlife Operation

In the locality of Mungári, situated in the Guro district of the Manica province, a pangolin was found for sale. The animal had been hunted in Coutada 9 by a known poacher. Authorities conducted an operation to intercept the illegal activity. Although the poachers managed to evade capture, the pangolin was successfully rescued from their possession.

Pangolins, are one of the most trafficked mammals in the world, they are highly sought after in illegal wildlife trade networks due to the belief in their scales' medicinal properties and the demand for their meat as a delicacy in some cultures. The demand for pangolin products drives relentless poaching across their range, pushing these species dangerously close to extinction.
